The BC family benefit for July 2026 to June 2027 pays up to $1,750 a year for the first child, $1,100 for the second and $900 for each additional child under 18, and a single-parent family adds up to $500. The CRA folds it into the monthly Canada child benefit deposit, so it arrives on the same day, tax-free. When 2025 adjusted family net income passes $30,176, the benefit loses 4 % of the excess, but it cannot fall below a guaranteed amount of $775, $750 and $725 per child. That floor holds until $96,562; above that second threshold the remaining amount shrinks again by 4 % until it reaches zero. Unlike Ontario or Alberta, British Columbia publishes every parameter, so the calculator gives an exact figure, not a range. The amount actually paid is the one on your CRA notice.
BC family benefit per month
$138.09
$1,657 from July 2026 to June 2027
| Maximum for your family | $2,850 |
| Guaranteed between the two thresholds | $1,525 |
| Thresholds | $30,176 · $96,562 |
Reduced by 4% of income above each threshold. Estimate only: the CRA, Service Canada or your province sets the amount actually paid.
How the calculator works
It adds the per-child amounts by birth order and the single-parent supplement, takes 4 % of income above $30,176, stops the reduction at the guaranteed amounts, then resumes it above $96,562. The income used is your 2025 adjusted family net income, the same figure the CRA uses for the Canada child benefit.
Typical families for 2026–27
| Family, 2025 adjusted net income | Maximum | Guaranteed minimum | Per year | Per month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Couple, 1 child, $25,000 | $1,750 | $775 | $1,750 | $145.83 |
| Couple, 2 children, $45,000 | $2,850 | $1,525 | $2,257 | $188.09 |
| Couple, 2 children, $80,000 | $2,850 | $1,525 | $1,525 | $127.08 |
| Single parent, 1 child, $40,000 | $2,250 | $1,275 | $1,857 | $154.75 |
| Couple, 3 children, $110,000 | $3,750 | $2,250 | $1,712 | $142.71 |
The two-child family at $80,000 sits on the floor: its income would justify less, but the guaranteed amounts hold it up. Three children at $110,000 are past the second threshold and already below that floor.
What it leaves out
Shared custody, where each parent gets half, is not modelled, nor are mid-year changes in family status. The B.C. climate action tax credit that used to be paid alongside has ended. Deposit days are on the child benefit calendar. Parameters come from the CRA’s British Columbia page.
