The Ontario Trillium Benefit for July 2026 to June 2027 combines three credits based on your 2025 return: the Ontario energy and property tax credit (OEPTC), worth up to $1,307 a year between 18 and 64 and $1,488 from age 65; the Ontario sales tax credit (OSTC), $378 for each adult and each child; and the Northern Ontario energy credit (NOEC), up to $189 for a single person or $290 for a family living in the North. The CRA adds them and pays the total on the 10th of each month, so July 10, 2026, August 10, 2026, September 10, 2026, October 9, 2026, November 10, 2026 and December 10, 2026. When the yearly total is $500 or less, it comes as a single payment in July. Income above $29,047 (single) or $36,309 (family) reduces the first two credits. The amount you actually receive is the one on your CRA notice.

What the calculator adds up
The tool follows the CRA’s 2026 calculation sheets. Energy costs count up to $290; the property tax part adds $73 plus a tenth of occupancy cost, capped at $944 ($617 and $581 from 65). Income then trims the OEPTC by 2 % and the OSTC by 4 % of the excess, and the NOEC by 1 % above $50,833 single or $65,356 family, for those living in the North on December 31, 2025.
Typical cases for 2026–27
| Situation (2025 tax year) | OEPTC | OSTC | NOEC | Annual total | Payment |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single, income $24,000, rent $14,400 | $651 | $378 | $0 | $1,029 | $85.75 a month |
| Single, 65 or over, income $31,000, property tax $3,600 | $1,267 | $300 | $0 | $1,567 | $130.57 a month |
| Couple, 2 children, income $46,000, rent $21,600 | $601 | $1,124 | $0 | $1,726 | $143.79 a month |
| Single, Northern Ontario, income $33,000, rent $10,800 | $500 | $220 | $189 | $909 | $75.74 a month |
| Single, income $38,000, rent $7,200 | $328 | $20 | $0 | $348 | once, in July |
The senior homeowner benefits from the larger age-65 property tax amount, and only the northern renter gets the NOEC. The last case shows the $500 rule: a modest total arrives once, in July, rather than spread over the year.
What it does not cover
Reserve, long-term care and student residence rules ($290 ceiling, $25 for a residence) and mid-year moves are not modelled. Ontario’s child benefit is a different program, paid with the federal child benefit, and the combined calendar lists every deposit. Figures come from the CRA’s Ontario programs page and its 2026 calculation sheet.
