Old Age Security payment dates for 2026
The Old Age Security pension is paid once a month, on the Service Canada calendar, and its amount is reviewed four times a year.

Old Age Security is deposited on January 28, 2026, February 25, 2026, March 27, 2026, April 28, 2026, May 27, 2026, June 26, 2026, July 29, 2026, August 27, 2026, September 25, 2026, October 28, 2026, November 26, 2026 and December 22, 2026 in 2026. Service Canada publishes these days on its benefit calendar, and the Guaranteed Income Supplement, the Allowance and the Allowance for the survivor follow them too. What changes from one quarter to the next is the amount, not the day. A full pension for ages 65 to 74 was $742.31 a month from January, $743.05 from April, $751.97 from July and $762.50 from October; at 75 or older it reached $838.75 for the last quarter. Each payment covers the month in which it arrives. If your 2025 net income was above $93,454, part of every deposit from July 2026 to June 2027 is withheld as recovery tax, so the amount that reaches your bank can be well below the published pension.

The table reads in blocks of three. The three deposits of a quarter carry the same amount, and the step comes on the first deposit of January, April, July and October. Over 2026 the full pension for ages 65 to 74 rose from $742.31 to $762.50, a gain of $20.19 a month. These are the rates in the quarterly report of Employment and Social Development Canada. A partial pension, for someone with fewer than 40 years in Canada after age 18, moves by the same proportion.
Four reviews a year, never a cut
The Canada Pension Plan is adjusted once a year. OAS is not: Service Canada reviews it in January, April, July and October against the Consumer Price Index, and the monthly rate cannot go down when the index falls. For a retiree who receives both, the CPP part of the deposit stays fixed from January to December while the OAS part can step up three times during the year. This is also why the total on a bank statement rarely matches last year’s figure plus a single indexation rate.
A worked example of a combined deposit
Take a retiree aged 67 who started CPP at 65 with the average new pension of July 2026, $858.34 a month, and who receives a full OAS pension. On September 25, 2026 the two programs together paid $1,610.31 before tax. On October 28, 2026 the total was $1,620.84: the CPP line had not moved, the whole difference came from the OAS review of October. Anyone checking a statement line by line should compare the OAS part with the rate of its quarter, not with the previous month.
The month after your 75th birthday
At 75 the pension increases by 10 %, permanently, starting with the payment of the month that follows the birthday. In the October to December quarter, that turns a full $762.50 into $838.75. Nothing has to be filed: the raise is applied by Service Canada from your date of birth. The guide to the increase at 75 covers the effect on a partial or deferred pension.
How recovery tax shrinks a deposit
Recovery tax is the reason two neighbours with the same pension can receive different deposits. For the payments made from July 2026 to June 2027, Service Canada looks at net income for 2025. Above $93,454, 15 % of the excess is recovered, and the recovery tax is withheld month by month from the OAS pension itself. Take a pensioner aged 70 with a 2025 net income of $110,000: the annual recovery comes to $2,481.96, so $206.83 is withheld from each deposit and $555.67 of OAS arrives in October, November and December. The pension disappears completely at $152,062 of income for ages 65 to 74 and $157,923 from 75.
The withholding is an estimate of what you will owe, built from the income you reported, and divided into monthly instalments. If the deductions cause financial hardship, Service Canada says you can ask the Canada Revenue Agency to review your situation. The clawback calculator gives the annual and monthly figures for any income.

The supplement and the allowances arrive the same day
The Guaranteed Income Supplement is not a separate deposit day. It is added to the OAS payment, and for a single pensioner with little other income the maximum was $1,138.90 a month in the last quarter of 2026. The Allowance, paid to some spouses aged 60 to 64 of a GIS recipient, and the Allowance for the survivor use the same calendar, so a couple can receive OAS, the GIS and the Allowance on one morning, as two separate deposits. The GIS calculator estimates the supplement from your income.
Provincial top-ups on a different schedule
Provincial supplements for low-income seniors are paid by the provinces, not by Service Canada, and their dates do not always line up. British Columbia’s Senior’s Supplement, for example, is paid automatically to GIS recipients, usually on the 27th: in 2026 that meant June 29, 2026 in June and September 28, 2026 in September, while OAS came on June 26, 2026 and September 25, 2026. In December both land on December 22, 2026.
Before the first deposit
Most people do not have to apply: Service Canada sends an enrolment letter around age 64 when it can confirm eligibility from its records. Those who receive a letter asking them to apply, or who want to defer, have to act. Each month of deferral after 65 adds 0.6 % to the pension, up to 36 % at 70, as the deferral guide explains. The amount on each deposit is the one in your Service Canada letter or your My Service Canada Account; this page reproduces the published rates.
